Today, Prima Nota would like to warmly congratulate Sonia Michailov on receiving the City Of Prospect 2026 Community Service Award.
This award recognises Sofia’s significant voluntary contribution to the community- and it is difficult to imagine a more deserving recipient.
Although Sofia was unable to attend in person, we were honoured to celebrate her recognition on the night and to see her years of service acknowledged so warmly.
For Prima Nota, Sofia is not only our Treasurer and a valued member of our Board. She is a woman of extraordinary energy, dignity and community spirit.
For many years, Sofia has offered generous, selfless support to people around her- women, children, families, migrants, the Russian-speaking community in South Australia, and beyond.
Sofia also leads the Russian-Speaking Women’s Association in South Australia, and her work has long gone far beyond any formal title. She is one of those rare people who simply does the work- quietly, consistently and with heart.
We are truly delighted to see her contribution formally recognised.
It was also a great privilege to share the evening with remarkable people at our table- including Anneke Hoffman, a well-known mosaic artist whose public artworks can be seen throughout Prospect, and Julie, an anthropologist and author of a wonderful book illustrated by Anneke, who also received an award that evening.
It was an evening filled with people who have given years of knowledge, time, talent and care to the wider community.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the City of Prospect for recognising and celebrating the invaluable contribution of volunteers through the Community Service Awards. Events like this remind us how much community life depends on people who give their time, care and energy so generously.
