🎀 Breast cancer awareness, community connections and wonderful Afghan hospitality!

This morning, Prima Nota had the pleasure of attending the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Research Fundraising Breakfast, hosted by Afghan Culture Association of South Australia💗

We particularly appreciate the work of ACA President Mursal Jamshedi, whose community education initiatives range from domestic violence prevention and healthy relationships to health awareness.

Today’s breakfast brought together medical professionals, community leaders and families for engaging presentations on breast cancer prevention, screening and early detection.

A few important takeaways:

🎀 In Australia, free mammograms are recommended every two years for women aged 50–74 and are available from age 40.

🎀 Being called back for further assessment doesn’t necessarily mean cancer.

🎀 Cultural barriers and limited awareness can prevent people in migrant communities from seeking timely medical care.

We also learned about Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centrein Pakistan, founded by Imran Khan in memory of his mother. Thanks to charitable donations, more than 75% of its cancer patients receive treatment free of charge!

It was lovely to connect with Hon Zoe Bettison MP, healthcare professionals and fellow multicultural community representatives.

Special thanks to LuxeDerm Med for the thoughtful gifts, and to the ACA team for the delicious breakfast and warm, family-friendly atmosphere!

Thank you, Mursal and everyone at ACA, for the invitation and your continued commitment to community education and wellbeing. We look forward to further collaboration! ❤️
