About the Festival
Maslenitsa SA 2026 is an inclusive, community-led public event, welcoming people of all backgrounds, cultures, genders, and identities.
Maslenitsa is a traditional Eastern European folk celebration marking the end of winter and the arrival of spring. At its heart are pancakes (blini), shared meals, music, dance, storytelling, and community connection.
In 2026, the Folk Pancake Festival Maslenitsa SA returns to Adelaide as South Australia’s largest Slavic pancake celebration, welcoming thousands of visitors from all backgrounds to experience Slavic culture through food, live performance, hands-on workshops, and inclusive community spaces.
This is a vibrant, joyful outdoor festival designed for families, friends, and anyone curious to explore culture through shared traditions.
What to Expect
🥞 Pancakes & street food – sweet and savoury options from community cooks and local vendors
🎶 Live music & performances – choirs, folk ensembles, and dance groups throughout the day
🎨 Cultural workshops – creative, hands-on activities for children and adults
👨👩👧👦 Family-friendly atmosphere – relaxed, welcoming, and accessible
🌏 Multicultural community celebration – open to all, no prior cultural knowledge required
In 2025, the festival attracted thousands of attendees, featured dozens of performers and community contributors, and reached tens of thousands of people online organically. Maslenitsa SA 2026 builds on this success with an expanded program and a longer festival day.
