It was a pleasure to attend the 2027 Australian of the Year Awards for South Australia 🇦🇺
It was a beautifully organised evening celebrating people making an extraordinary contribution to our South Australian community.
Special congratulations to Dr Fariba Behnia-Willison, named South Australia’s 2027 Australian of the Year, for her outstanding work in women’s health and wellbeing.
Thank you also to Michelle Cox, Chair of the Australia Day Council of South Australia, for her warm welcome.
One point that particularly resonated with us as a volunteer-led organisation was the reminder that the Council itself is governed by a volunteer board. The time, expertise and commitment contributed behind the scenes- and the calibre of what that collective effort produces- are a powerful example of what volunteer leadership can achieve.
A very meaningful evening and a lovely reminder of the strength of community contribution in South Australia. ❤️
