The Folk Pancake Festival Maslenitsa SA 2026 was organised and delivered by Prima Nota , with the Russian-Speaking Women’s Association in South Australia (RSWSA) serving as a key Community Engagement Partner for the event.

Through its established networks within the Russian-speaking community, RSWSA supported community outreach, promotion, and volunteer participation, helping extend the festival’s reach and encouraging broader participation in the celebration of Maslenitsa and Russian cultural traditions.

RSWSA’s involvement included:

• Promotion of the festival through community networks and social media
• Community outreach and distribution of festival information
• Support in coordinating the preparation of traditional Maslenitsa pancakes (blini)
• Donation of traditional kokoshnik headpieces used during the festival
• Donation of matryoshka-themed tote bags
• Volunteer assistance in the kitchen area during the event

A significant contribution to these activities was provided by Sonia Michailov, who supported the initiative both through her connection with RSWSA and through her role as Treasurer and Managing Committee member of Prima Nota.

Through this collaboration, RSWSA contributed to strengthening community engagement and supporting the celebration of Russian cultural heritage within the multicultural landscape of South Australia.
