Community Integration Activities
From isolation to connection — through creativity, culture, and conversation.
Moving to a new country isn’t easy. Language barriers, unfamiliar systems, and a sense of disconnection can leave many migrants — especially Russian-speaking adults and youth — feeling lost or invisible.
At Prima Nota, we believe integration doesn’t start with paperwork — it starts with people. That’s why we offer creative, culturally grounded group activities that help migrants build relationships, practice English, and gain confidence in navigating life in Australia.
These are not formal settlement services — they’re human spaces for belonging, expression, and gentle support.
What These Activities Look Like:
• Weekly drop-in meetups with music, storytelling games, or seasonal craft
• Parent–child sessions for migrant families to connect with others
• Cultural circles focused on shared traditions and everyday life
• Skill-building mini-workshops (e.g. how to call a school, read a utility bill, or attend a community event — all in a safe peer-led setting)
Often co-facilitated by migrant artists, choir members, or social work students, these sessions are informal but purposeful.
Who They’re For:
• New migrants from Russian-speaking countries
• Isolated older adults
• Parents seeking connection
• Teens and young adults seeking cultural identity and confidence
• Anyone who’s looking for “a place to start”
Why It Matters:
• Reduces loneliness
• Builds community trust
• Encourages participation in other programs (choirs, games, festivals)
• Helps newcomers feel seen — and supported
