We were delighted to see members of our own community contribute their stories alongside so many others.

One of the evening’s most memorable moments came when Behishta Anwar, President of the Afghan Women’s Federation of South Australia, happened to be reading a gratitude note submitted by a member of our community. Out of hundreds of messages, our paths crossed through a single card- a beautiful reminder of how interconnected our communities truly are.

We were inspired by the reflections shared by Vicki Achiro Juma, Flying Officer Kbora Ali, Hieu Van Le AC and Maria Dimopoulos, and grateful for the opportunity to connect with community leaders from across South Australia.

The evening’s speakers reflected on resilience, leadership, service and belonging. We heard about lifting others up as we move forward, carrying multiple identities with pride, leading through humility and service, and the idea that unity does not require uniformity. Our differences, cultures and stories can coexist while contributing to one stronger Australian story.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire AMRC team for creating such a welcoming and inclusive event.

❤️ Many voices.
❤️ Many journeys.
❤️ One shared future.

#SARefugeeWeek2026 #AMillionStories #AMillionThankYous #AMRC

Read on Facebook

✨ A Million Stories.
